CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 2026 GRANT RECIPIENTS!

Center for Independence helps children and young adults with disabilities achieve their highest level of independence at home, in school, in the community, and in the workforce. Our affordable therapy programs foster self-determination and an “I Can!” attitude in children with physical disabilities, while our Working Together Chicago initiative breaks down employment barriers for adults. Grounded in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), our services protect and advance the legal, educational, and developmental rights of children and their families, ensuring access, equity, and long-term independence.

Niles Township District for Special Education (NTDSE) collaborates with member districts and families to promote success and independence for all students, guided by our vision: “Empowering All to Achieve.” Committed to equity, inclusivity, and diversity, we foster strong partnerships and provide high-quality professional learning alongside evidence-based, individualized supports. Funding enhances our family outreach programs by strengthening engagement, education, advocacy, and the planning of activities that support families across the district and surrounding township.

Variety – The Children’s Charity of Illinois enhances the lives of children with disabilities across Illinois by removing barriers to mobility, communication, and inclusion. Funding supports our Kids on the Go program, which provides essential adaptive mobility equipment to about 20 children each year. Funding helps cover items such as adaptive bicycles, recreational wheelchairs, and other mobility supports not covered by insurance. This support enables children to move more freely and experience greater independence and quality of life.
